For my final project, I wanted to make sure to select a subject that I not only enjoy photographing, but that is feasible with the encroaching winter weather. So, I decided to select artificial light sources as my theme. I want to focus on how different light sources affect the way we experience life. I would be photographing both inside and outside, but every photo would have some type of a light source in it that belongs and is a part of that scene. I am interested in photographing it because light plays a huge role in not only how we see things, but how we perceive different aspects of life. I expect it to be challenging since I have never focused on photographing light sources themselves before, but I think it will be interesting to play with the glares, which is something I tried briefly in my last project but decided against. I think because there are a lot of different sources of light that I can incorporate into my photographs, I will be able to turn in a variety of photographs that represent different places, scenes, and aspects of life over the span of the next few weeks.  I also know that as it gets closer to Christmas, downtown State College is decorated with all sorts of lights, so that is another potential subject I can photograph when the time comes. I also travelled to Baltimore over Thanksgiving break, which is a city full of photograph-worthy scenes. My expected outcome is that I want to be able to produce images that I am proud of. I know that some days or specific lights may be more challenging than others, but it is something I would like to challenge myself on and I know that it will be worth it if I do. I have not loved all of the photographs I have turned in up to this point, but I think this is a unique subject and when it comes time to turn in my final project and collection of images, I want to be able to say that I truly am proud of them. And so I present, Luminescence.
